Restoring wild populations of bobwhite quail to the landscape in South Carolina will depend heavily on the efforts of private landowners. More than 95% of the land in our state is not public, and we have prioritized making resources available to the individuals, families, and companies who own these acres.
Videographer Zach Steinhauser spent some time with one of these landowners, Chris Kirk, documenting his experience with our biologists and talking about how we help people put more bobwhites on their property.
Chris' experience is not unique. Every week, biologists from the SCBI help landowners just like him, showing them how to improve the habitat on their land to make it more favorable for quail. If you used to hear whistles, or maybe hear and occasional bobwhite but would like to hear more, get in touch with us and we'll show you how.
