Quail Forever acquisition will double public draw hunt opportunities Through the effort of the Quail Forever (scquailforever.org), the S.C. Conservation Bank, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources and individual quail enthusiasts including Allen Bell and Tim Askins, the opportunity for public draw hunts is on the verge of doubling in the state.

3,000 acres designated as ‘quail focal area’ in McCormick County - WRDW AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The bobwhite quail population has been decreasing roughly for 3-4% each year for the past few decades. Habitat loss is the main driver of population decline.

April 10, 2019 - A Burning Tradition (PDF) Students from the University of Wisconsin’s Steven’s Point Campus came to South Carolina in mid-March on their third annual Spring PyroBreak to burn the woods with forester and Heritage Preserve Manager Johnny Stowe of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
